		<efc:overview><![CDATA[Module Code:	AD3P64N

Module Title:	Spatial Practice: Research and Proposition

Description:	This module expects a greater level of independence in developing site specific proposals. The student will take responsibility for developing their own brief within the context of the broader issues and agenda of the spatial art programme.

Students will identify and research project issues, develop appropriate practice activity and secure the required bodies of knowledge for developing a site specific practice.

Semester:	Autumn

Prerequisite:	None

Assessment:	Practical 50%, Documentation 50%]]></efc:overview>

		<efc:aim><![CDATA[This module is seen as a complement to the critical spatial practice module and forms part of the main practice project in the student’s final year. It requires a student to:

·	Develop an investigative, self directed practice and to generate and undertake a coherent site-specific practice proposition

·	undertake self directed work developing and defending an individual and collaborative practice position

·	develop a personal focus whilst acknowledging external and professional practice reference points

·	explore an area of specialism that will inform their practice process and support a comprehensive practice project.

This module is further supported by the honours level professional practice module which requires specific and detailed evidence of the practice activity and demonstrates the integration of cultural, professional, technical and organisational issues, This would be completed in conjunction with this module.]]></efc:aim>

		<efc:outcome><![CDATA[On successful completion of this module the student will be able to:

·	Devise and manage a self-directed program of appropriate research. (A1)

·	Develop a well grounded and detailed project brief and outline practice proposition for a coherent site specific project. This should integrate knowledge of the social, political, cultural and professional context which guides spatial practice. (A2)

·	Construct a well-judged and critical spatial practice project. (A2), (A3)

·	Work effectively with the skills and knowledge involved in an area of specialization. (A2)

·	Collate and document a critical practice development process to a professional standard of presentation. (A3)]]></efc:outcome>

		<efc:assessment><![CDATA[Module assessment will be based on the presentation of portfolio or video, which will demonstrate through appropriate modes of documentation:

·	A well constructed project brief for a coherent site specific project founded on relevant research;

·	A well managed, thoughtful and productive practice process;

·	A focused body of work that identifies and integrates within the project proposal, specialist issues and skills, and an understanding and knowledge of the context of a professional spatial practice;

·	Evidence of self-determination and self-management;

·	Communication skills in representing work to professional standards.

Evidence of an outline proposition at a sufficient level of ambition and complexity to allow development and resolution in Spring Semester.]]></efc:assessment>
