On The Way
Well, things are starting to move forward now. Over the last couple of weeks we've been focusing on two things. The first the use cases and UML for describing GroupLog and the other is the WSRP feasibility report that we're producing as part of the project. In this entry I'll be talking a bit more about the first of those two items....
I now have quite an extensive set of use cases for GroupLog. As some of our team members have no experience of UML I've written these out in as text-based scenarios and will just be focusing on some of the main use cases in UML. The exercise has been very useful as I've now received quite a bit of feedback from team members and we've been able to flag some interesting areas of development as well as highlight areas that could be problematic. Of course, one of the things with design is the inevitable feature creep that can come in, so the next stage will be identifying all the absolute must haves and the nice but not essential features so that we can target the development work. Some of the conceptual class diagrams have been through their first pass as well, so once the above has been decided I can start really drawing out the implementation design of GroupLog as it will be for the next version in March.
